Creeping Progress

Over the summer I have suffered from an extreme lack of motivation and consequently haven't progressed very much with my research work.  The 'back to school' time is upon us and I hoped this will give me a much needed push, but I'm finding myself feeling very isolated instead.  I wish I were moving back to Winnipeg and joining the scholarly community again, but I am not, and so I really need to buckle down and push myself.  I have finally started writing my first of three précis.  It has been like pulling teeth, but I`m about a third of the way through this one.

I`m going to a conference in Montreal at the end of the month and will have to face my supervisor then.  I really don`t want to show up there without having anything done.  I`m also exploring fieldwork options.  It would be sooooo nice to go out and get dirty!

Knitting projects have been progressing fairly well.  I put some more work into the never-ending afghan; a fairly simple blanket I started 2 or 3 years ago.  Maybe this year I will finally finish it.
I'm nearly done a scarf that was really just an exercise of curiosity and boredom.
I`ve started a sock and have reached the heel part of it.
I`ve also started a skull and crossbone hat for a friend that is going fairly well.  I`d like to make a mini version of the same hat for a friend who is expecting.

One day I`ll get pictures up of these ongoing projects.  The knitting, not the writing.  The writing just looks like I`ll overdose on caffeine and sugar.
